Experts in timber since 1979, NYTimber are looking to recruit a Warehouse Operative to join their Warehousing and Distribution department at Brompton on Swale near Richmond.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, flexible and a reliable team player. Previous experience of warehouse or stores working or forklift truck operation would be advantageous, although this is not essential as full training will be provided to suitable candidates.

Duties to include:

  • Assembling picked orders and loading onto outbound delivery vehicles
  • Assisting with picking customer orders
  • Working with housekeeping and health and safety rules

Working hours and pay:

  • Normally 39 hours per week, Mon-Thurs 8.00am to 4.30pm, Fri 8.00am to 3.30pm, competitive basic hourly rate + all agreed hours worked over 39 paid at overtime rates.

Experts in timber since 1979, NYTimber are looking to recruit Fabrication Operatives/Labourers to join their production site in Brompton-on-Swale.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, flexible and a reliable team player with good literacy and numeracy skills. An interest in, or previous experience of basic woodworking would be advantageous although not essential as full training will be given.

Duties to include:

  • Assisting in the assembly of timber components to order requirements
  • Use of equipment, machinery and plant (after training)
  • Completion of basic standard paperwork

Working hours:

  • 37.5 hours per week Mon-Fri either 6.00am to 2.00pm or 2.00pm to 10.00pm, competitive hourly rate + percentage shift allowance paid for all basic 37.5 hours. Agreed hours over 37.5 paid at overtime rates.)
  • or
  • 39 hours per week, Mon-Thurs 8.00am to 4.30pm, Fri 8.00am to 3.30pm, competitive basic hourly rate + all agreed hours worked over 39 paid at overtime rates.

Pay and benefits:

  • National Minimum/Living Wage (+ 16.5% shift allowance for 6-2/2-10) paid during initial 3 month probationary period
  • Hourly rate increases available following successful completion of probationary period
  • Further increases available following training to achieve semi skilled or skilled status
  • Further increases available for achievement of specific skills
  • Overtime paid at 1.5 time during week over basic hours and Saturdays or double time for Sundays and Bank Holidays
  • Shift allowance paid at 16.5% extra for all basic 37.5 hours worked 6.00-2.00 or 2.00-10.00
  • Realistic earning potential of more than 29% above National Minimum/Living Wage for skilled operatives

Experts in timber since 1979, NYTimber are looking to recruit a Part Time Cleaner to join their well established branch on Mercury Road in Richmond.

The successful candidate will be an organised, methodical individual responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the branch. Experience is preferred, but not essential.

Duties to include:

  • Cleaning of offices, kitchen, lavatory and showroom area
  • Dusting, sanitising, vacuuming, washing up, sweeping, emptying office and kitchen bins
  • Consumables and equipment will be provided

Hours, salary and benefits:

  • A part time role, working Tuesday and Thursday each week (2 hours per day)

Experts in timber since 1979, NYTimber are looking to recruit an Apprentice Design Technician to join their Design Team at Head Office in Northallerton.

The successful candidate will benefit from gaining valuable on the job training whilst also working towards a recognised qualification in Technical Support.

Duties:

  • Handle and process sales enquiries for JJI joists and roof trusses generated by sales staff
  • Liaise with sales and technical staff to resolve technical queries
  • Producing sales quotations for NYT customers
  • Using a variety of bespoke computer software to support with the design of joists and roof trusses
  • Liaise with the Operations team to assist with JJI product—stock control
  • Maintaining and improving sales for the branch
  • Acting responsibly and conscientiously at all times in the presence of customers and whilst on the telephone
  • Building good business relationships with all customers, specific to their agreed tasks and targets

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
  • A minimum of 5 GCSE’s at 9—4 (A* - C) grade or equivalent qualification
  • Previous academic experience within an engineering field is desirable
  • Ability to take ownership and responsibility for own workload
  • Experience of CAD Software would be advantageous

Experts in timber since 1979, NYTimber are looking to recruit a Quality Assistant to join their Manufacturing and Distribution Centre at Brompton on Swale near Richmond.

The successful applicant will be a meticulous, responsible, conscientious, organised and flexible individual with excellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills, ideally with previous timber industry experience or knowledge of NYTimber’s products, although product training will be given and applicants will be considered who have outstanding skills in all other areas.

Duties will include:

  • Reporting directly to the Quality Operations Manager this new role will involve meticulous checking of paperwork, strict adherence to policy and procedure and problem solving both on the factory floor and from the D&W office. The Quality Assistant will ensure the accuracy and quality of processes within Operations and Fabrication.

Working hours and benefits:

  • Monday – Thursday 9.00am to 6.00pm and Friday 8.00am to 5.00pm
