Experts in timber since 1979, North Yorkshire Timber are looking to recruit Timber Fabrication Labourers to join their Warehousing and Distribution site in Brompton-on-Swale.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, flexible and a reliable team player with good literacy and numeracy skills. An interest in, or previous experience of basic woodworking would be advantageous although not essential as full training will be given.

Duties will include:

  • Assisting in the assembly of timber components to order requirements
  • Completion of basic standard paperwork

Working hours and pay, either:

39 hours per week, Mon-Thurs 8.00am to 4.30pm, Fri 8.00am to 3.30pm, competitive basic hourly rate + all agreed hours worked over 39 paid at overtime rates.

or

37.5 hours per week Mon-Fri either 6.00am to 2.00pm or 2.00pm to 10.00pm, competitive hourly rate + percentage shift allowance paid for all basic 37.5 hours. Agreed hours over 37.5 paid at overtime rates.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator (both verbal and written) with proven literacy and numeracy competency and good IT skill and a working knowledge and experience of Excel.

Duties will include:

  • Using Company software to assist in raising purchase orders
  • Checking supplier invoices and delivery notes
  • Setting short, medium and long term goals and building team to work towards completion
  • Stock checks
  • Procuring product information for the Buyer
  • Assisting in updating purchasing schedules and cost uploads
  • Assisting on the works orders on producing stocks in house
  • Negotiating prices with suppliers
  • Managing the purchase of specific product groups

This is a full time role working Monday - Friday

The successful candidate will be a customer focused, confident and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication skills. We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants with experience in the Timber/Construction industry and with Fork Lift Truck operating experience, however training is available for the right candidate.

Duties will include:

  • Customer sales and service
  • Using a till and handling payments
  • Ensuring the counter, showroom and branch are all clean, tidy and well presented
  • Following stock rotation procedures
  • Completing paperwork for orders
  • Dealing with telephone enquiries
  • Use of Company software packages

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic team player with excellent communication skills an ability to manage confidential information and records, a methodical thinker and problem solver with high attention to detail and the ability to remain calm during peak times. An excellent working knowledge of Sage 50 Payroll Software and experience of processing payroll for both hourly paid and salaried employees is essential.

Duties will include:

  • Processing weekly payroll for payment each Thursday inc. basic hours, overtime, shift allowances from consolidation of time and attendance reports
  • Processing monthly payroll for payment on the last Thursday of each month inc. adjustments, bonus payments
  • Processing starters
  • Processing statutory payments e.g. sickness, maternity, paternity etc.
  • Responding to queries
  • Processing leavers
  • Processing BACS payments
  • Processing monthly returns
  • Processing court order deductions
  • Posting payroll journals
  • Monthly NI/PAYE return
  • Annual P11D return

Reporting directly to the Management Accountant you will also work with the HR Department to ensure all payments are processed in line with contractual and legal employment terms and conditions.

Working Hours and Benefits:

The position is initially offered as 15 hours per week, Monday and Tuesday 8.30am to 5.00pm with a 1 hour lunch break

The successful candidate will be an experienced Manager or Assistant/Deputy Manager with demonstrable experience in retail and/or sales. A self motivated, target orientated individual with a sharp business acumen and excellent computer skills. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience of working in the Timber/Construction industries but extensive retail branch management skills would also make candidates attractive.

Duties will include:

  • Day to day management of counter service for the Branch
  • Dealing with customer enquiries
  • Management of stock rotation and stock control for counter and yard
  • Cash handling
  • Health and safety responsibilities including weekly checks and general adherence to all policies and procedures
  • Driving and maintaining a professional and positive sales mentality to meet and exceed branch and company objectives
  • Key holding and store open and close
  • Staff supervision, mentoring and training
