Footgolf charity event raises money for those in need

NYTimber’s Steve Croucher has helped raise more than £240 for the Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society (TTBS), a charity which supports members of the timber trade that have fallen on hard times.

Steve brought staff from NYTimber, MH Southern, International Timber and Robert Duncan, together for a rather competitive round of Footgolf at Rosebery Grange Golf Club, in Chester-Le-Street.

A few players, who shall remain nameless, tired quickly on the 18-hole course, reverting to the toe punt in an effort to preserve energy, and their dignity. There were also a few sore backs and tight hamstrings the following day, but it was all worthwhile given the cause.

David Smith, from MH Southern, came out on top with an impressive score of 71 - only four short of matching the course record! Congratulations also to Archie McClean who won the junior tournament, carding 81.

The two nearest the pin competitions were won by Mark Slee, Buyer at NYTimber, and the longest 'drive' by the only member of the Croucher clan boasting a full head of hair, Jack.

Well done and thank you to everyone that made the day a success, we’re all looking forward to the next event.
